Birth Center Birth

We are a Texas-licensed birth center.  Enjoy all the comforts of home and more in our lovely facility.

Home Birth

We understand that some women desire to birth at home because they feel the safest and most comfortable there.  We attend a limited number of home births for healthy clients.  They must be knowledgeable, informed, and prepared for the experience of birthing at home.

Because our goal is the best birth outcome for you, we do limit our traveling distance to a 30-mile radius of our office. If home birth is of interest to you, please discuss this with the midwife at your initial consultation and tour. She will be glad to review our home birth guidelines.

Water Birth

Some women are interested in experiencing or learning about laboring or birthing in water.

Some benefits of water labor and water birth include:

  • Water allows the mother to use positions more comfortable for labor and birth
  • May shorten labor
  • Reduces blood pressure
  • Gives mother more feelings of control
  • Provides significant pain relief
  • Promotes relaxation
  • Conserves the mother’s energy
  • Reduces the need for drugs and interventions
  • Gives mother a private protected space
  • Reduces perineal trauma and eliminates episiotomies
  • Reduces cesarean section rates
  • Is highly rated by mothers – typically stating they would consider giving birth in water again
  • Encourages a gentler welcome for baby

The buoyancy of the water enables the mother to change positions more easily, which facilitates better fetal positioning, opens the pelvis, and allows the baby to descend.

Entering the bath helps calm the atmosphere.  Even the tone of the birth team tone becomes more relaxed and the mother stays calmer.  With more relaxation and less stress, the hormonal balance is improved.  Stress hormones are reduced and endorphins (natural pain inhibitors) are increased, allowing the woman to relax more fully and labor often progresses faster.
